"After the Storm" is an effort by the progressive rock community to do its share to help out the survivors of Hurricane Katrina. All of the artists involved have graciously donated music to this project, and many have contributed previously unreleased live or studio material, including New Orleans' own Woodenhead. The costs of manufacturing have been donated by NEARfest and NEARfest Records and all proceeds from the sale of this unique compilation will be donated to aid the survivors of Hurricane Katrina through Habitat for Humanity.
Quick financial update... To date, the After the Storm project has raised over $20,000 for Habitat for Humanity. This is excellent progress and are very grateful to those who have purchased the album, but there is a long way to go. So many people still need a lot of help in the Gulf region. Please pass the word along about After the Storm. Thank you!

All the music for "After the Storm" has been delivered to Gayle Ellett and Wayne Yentis for compilation and mastering. The master CDs should take about a week or so to complete. At the same time, Michael Bennett has completed the amazing cover art. He is now in the layout stages of the packaging. Finalized masters and artwork should be back in hand by the end of November with delivery to the manufacturer very shortly thereafter. With no delays, we are looking at a mid-December release.
Once we have a firm completion date from the manufacturer, we will open up preorders here on this website. In addition, retail shops will be able to place their wholesale orders at that time. Please contact Chad Hutchinson.
Djam Karet's Gayle Ellett has spearheaded an effort to raise money for the survivors of Hurricane Katrina. Gayle posed the idea of a compilation album to the co-founders of the popular North East Art Rock Festival (NEARfest), Chad Hutchinson and Robert LaDuca. Hutchinson and LaDuca gladly offered to fund the project and take the reins with regards to coordinating the effort. To date, 21 artists have agreed to donate music to the album. The amazing response has pushed the compilation to become a 2CD set.
Produced by Mr. Ellett, the music for the album will primarily consist of unreleased studio and live material, which will make this compilation extra special. Echolyn, Djam Karet and Kraan will be contributing brand new studio tracks to the compilation. All proceeds from the sale of the compilation, entitled "After the Storm," will be donated directly to the relief efforts in the Gulf Coast region of the United States that was ravaged by Hurricane Katrina on August 29, 2005. The music and necessary permissions for the compilation are currently being gathered. The artwork is being created and donated by Michael Bennett.
The album will be released on NEARfest Records, hopefully before the end of November.
